Support the 2024 Statewide Active Transportation Summit which will run in conjunction with the 2024 PA Downtown Center Conference being held in York on June 23-26. The AT Summit will take place on Wednesday, June 26. The Summit will welcome engaged activists, advocates, community leaders, design professionals, and relevant state agency and planning organization staff -- in general those interested in promoting active transportation in communities throughout the Commonwealth and realizing the infrastructure needed to provide multimodal transportation options. Active Transportation refers to people walking, biking, using wheelchairs and other mobility devices, and accessing transit to get to everyday destinations. Communities need to provide safe, accessible, and inviting connected networks to give people to options to choose from when deciding how to get where they need to go. Providing such connected networks and in general improving the built environment and our transportation infrastructure can improve health by reducing the risk of both crashes and long-term chronic health conditions. It is also key to financial health for communities and individuals. And it is better for the environment in countless ways, whether in terms of air quality, water quality, carbon emissions, habitat protection, or noise pollution.
